You Are Building Online Real Estate
I think people miss the point of what we’re doing as webmasters. They buy a domain name and stick a sales page on the front. That is about all they’re concerned about for real estate. They move onto link building and other SEO tactics to get traffic.
Is that really what you do? I never really understood why people do this. Your single sales page can only get so much SE traffic. It’s just the way it works. You can only target so many keywords before your page turns into a nightmare to read. It just seems so stupid to make one page. It’s all Virtual Real Estate People seem to get stuck up on "numbers". They make one page, to target a keyword that will eventually get them a 100 hits a day. I think that is fine and everyone should do that, but what about the other stuff. You can make a million different landing pages, sales pages, filters, articles, etc inside directories in your domain name. Does Google view them any less? No. It’s all a landing page for someone. It doesn’t even matter how many hits they get anyway. I’ve been targeting low search, low competition keywords lately for a few reasons. The first is that they’re easy to dominate in the SE results. The second reason is that they send a few hits a day. That doesn’t sound like much, but if you keep building your online real estate, you’re going to have a lot of traffic coming eventually and it will all be targeted. Is it any less valuable? No. It’s probably better. Weight Loss, for example, will get a lot of searches, but it is quite generalized. But if you went over a keyword that gets 5 searches a day about weight loss for pregnant women, than you’re more likely to have a targeted sale. I know it’s only 5 hits, but what if you did this every single day for a year? You’d be getting over 1800 unique hits a day, all going to targeted sales pages. It only makes sense to do it. Don’t be a stupid dumbass and just rely totally on one or two pages on your website to make you money. Always build something for your website and stick in a subdirectory. There should always be something built everyday that targets a keyword and soon enough you’ll be rolling in targeted traffic and sales. July 16 2008
