3 Unorthidox Viral Traffic Methods
I thought I’d do something a little different today and share with you some of the viral ways of getting traffic. I’m only really going to share methods that I’ve used that I found quite funny and cute. They work though. Conversion power of that traffic on the other hand isn’t that good.
1. The Digg Bitch What if I told you that you could get 10,000 unique hits tomorrow without getting one single digg vote cast for you. It’s easy. It really is. I got 10,000 unique hits in a 24hr period by making a comment early in an upcoming page that ended up being on that top ranked side bar (whatever it is called). You have to post something relevant because your comment will be buried into the ground. Don’t be a spammer. Plus, you have to catch it when it’s upcoming. If you can’t comment within the first 50, than it’s not worth your time. 2. The Asshole There is no such thing as bad press, so start pissing people off. I have a site, isn’t monetized, that is designed for me to piss people off. It works great. In the first 6 months of owning the site, I had 60,000 unique hits. 10,000 unique hits your first month with absolutely no traditional marketing methods is awesome. The thing about it is that everyone seems to have a blog and they just have to link to you. They just have to tell you off on their blog. It’s hilarious. Piss some people off, it’ll pay off in dividends. 3. Celebrity Suck Up It’s funny just how much traffic I end up getting because I included some celebrities name in my content. Doesn’t matter what niche you’re in, there is some sort of celebrity you can mention. If it is bodybuilding, you can use Arnold Schwarzenegger. If you’re site is about atheism, you can use Richard Dawkins. It doesn’t matter because you can always find someone. Or you can just throw in unrelated terms that people are searching all the time. Britney Spears is searched a lot. You could make a post like "How not to be Britney Spears in *niche*". Stupid stuff like this works. It’s not the best quality of traffic, but if it converts, then hell yeah! August 10 2008
