Newbie Project: The Mock Blog
I thought it was important for me to start doing newbie projects again because I think they are valuable for affiliate marketers. The mock blog or fake blog or whatever you want to call it is a very effective tool. It's orginally what made blogs so great with search engines and they still. This is going to be a little different because you're not going to use Wordpress or any other software. You're going to go with straight HTML.
I have a few reasons why I want it done this way: A: Google and other search engines can detect a wordpress blog. It's really easy. The structure on the internet matches millions of other sites on the web. It may not be a bad thing to have now, but I think Google isn't going to treat it the same forever. B: The speed in which the site loads. Google and other search engines could be doing this now, if not they'll be doing it in the future. They're going to grading your site on speed in which it loads. If you haven't looked at the source of a wordpress blog, than you wouldn't of noticed how junky it. It's a mess and it's full of all this bulky code that just makes the page take longer to load. Wordpress also has to run off the mySQL database and run the PHP engine on your webhosting. All of this adds time to the loading of your page. Since we're going to do this in HTML, you're going to have a lot more creative control. That means you can be a better seller. Structure The structure of the page is very simple. You have header at the top of the page (just like this site). Than you're going to a few links like HOME, etc etc etc (just like this one). Next, you'll have your first post that has the title in nice H1 or H2 tags. This title should link to the unique blog post and the structure of it should be /blog-post-name/ with the directories. You'll have the first paragraph or 100 words under the title and a "read more" which takes you to the posts page. This should be repeated over and over again with new posts to make a big long page. That's all I'm asking of you. Picking a Niche I suggest picking a topic that is hot. I suppose it would work in any busy niche, but I think hot ones work the best. For example, back in the summer time when gas was really expensive, the water 4 gas products were hot. The point is that there is a lot of shit being searched at search engines because people are desperate. None of the keyword tools will give you everything that will be searched, especially when it's hot. Actual Posts Basically the posts are going to be reviews of products. Use the name of the product in the title. For example, "Product Name Review", "Product Name Information", "Product Name Owner Name", etc. All the hot niches will have a ton of products to choose from, so you should be able to fill up a long page of this. This is where the attention to detail comes in. You have to show a depth of keyword diversity over all the posts. That doesn't mean each post has to have a ton of them. It just means try and use different words in each review. So instead of saying "run your car on water" every post, mix it up with "hydrogen engine", "water fuel", "eco-friendly fuel", etc. Also, don't focus on any long-tail keywords. Just write naturally. The Philosophy The most important part; the philosophy. This is where I explain why this is so effective and why you should be doing. Think of the finished product. It looks like a blog, but you have to see it from Google, Yahoo and Microsoft's point of view. It just looks like a normal page to them with links to other parts of your site. It doesn't see a blog. What you should be picking up on is that this page is one powerful mother fucker. It is full of a lot of keywords. It's loaded with a lot of text and is diverse, using a lot of keyword diversity. In the adult webmaster world, they call this "spider cyder". It just means that there is a lot of great text on the page. Basically you're going to pick up a lot of long-tail keyword. You're going to pick up all sorts of keywords. Things that aren't even listed in the keyword tools. You'll see things like "Product name hydrogen", "Owner name technology", etc. I set one of these up in a subdirectory of one of my sites. I stumbled the main page and left it. I didn't build any links or anything. Within a week I was getting long-tail traffic and the very next week I had my first sale for it. Not bad for an hour of work that will produce sales over and over again. March 28 2009 |
