Is There A summer Low This Year?
Anyone that is in affiliate marketing knows that the summer shows a decrease in sales during this time. It seems to be an industry fact, yet people still piss and moan about it on forums thinking they’re getting ripped off by the affiliate company.
Why is there a summer low? The summer low comes from the fact that the Western world moves into the summer months. People are out doing things. Days are longer, it’s hotter and people are spending less time on the computer. When you’re on the computer less, you have less time to be influenced by marketing and you just generally don’t care. It sucks for us selling, but it happens. But is there one this year? I’m still having pretty strong sales even though we’re in the summer. I’m actually starting to get much more consistent behavior rather than the typical sporadic I had before. What is happening this summer? Gas prices are higher. They’re very high and people just aren’t driving anywhere. People are staying close to home and that means close to the internet. I’m sure they’re spending less because I don’t even like being on the computer when it’s hot out, but I think this will probably be one of the best summers for affiliate marketers because gas prices are high.
