Beware of the Fadsters
I didn’t really have a term, so I just came up with fadsters. These are the type of people that just seem to be constantly jumping from one fad to another. You’ve probably met some of these people in real life, like the ones that follow fad diets. Each week that you see them, they tend to be on a "new" fad diet that “REALLY WORKS”.
These types of people are all over the internet marketing scene. I try my best to distance myself from them, hence why I’ve left webmaster forums. Here are a few points I want to lay down.
I wanted to focus on the fact that most of these fads don’t work on building a “foundation” for long term profit. Some out there do, but they’re rarely fads, for one reason; they require more work. Build Up Your Empire - There are morons out there willing to put up pages and content up on squidoo lens and hubpages. What the hell? Since when did building someone else’s empire become a prerogative. Get Good Back Links - Squidoo, hubpages and all the other web 2.0 sites out there offer shit in the way of back links. You get a little juice for maybe week, then it’s gone. Just use your brain for a second; free host back links. Anyone advocating free host back links as a long term strategy is a douchebag, and should never be trusted. Get some real back links. All these fadsters die out. They’re always talking and are excited to tell you the NEXT BIG THING THAT REALLY WORKS!!!! But since they’re instant gratification seekers, they inevitably leave. It’s actually easy to figure out what works and what doesn’t. Ask yourself, “What would Google think?” Google is looking for the best interest of the people that do searches. Is Google going to give top spot for decent search terms because you spammed up Squidoo? No! July 20 2008
