Affiliate Marketing Xpert is Going HTML

I’m sure a lot of people aren’t going to really understand this move, but I’ve never been fan of putting things on databases and stuff like that. As much as people are fans on wordpress, I really am not. It’s not that I hate it, I’m just not into it.

Anyway, the reason I was using wordpress for a site like this was due to the fact that I needed two specific things; RSS Feeds and the ability to ping. Pinging really isn’t that big of deal, but the RSS feed was a deal breaker. I need people to be able to subscribe to my blog. It’s just the way it needs to be.

The good news is that I’ve figured out how I can make RSS feeds for regular HTML pages. Obviously, I’m going to go back that way. I’m always scared of using these CMS like software because I’m afraid I’m going to get hacked.

Anyway, here is the break down of the positives and negatives you’ll experience…

Positives

  • Lightweight and fast - There is going to be no more delay contacting the mySQL databases and all the crap the comes along with my Wordpress skin.
  • RSS Feed- There will be an RSS feed, so those people subscribed do not have to worry about it.
  • Pinging - Since I will have a feed, I can ping it.
  • Customizable - The cool thing is that I don’t have to make my posts fit into the template of Wordpress. I can do anything I want for a specific page. I can break away from the theme and do anything.
  • Better SEO - I know a lot of people think that Wordpress is god like SEO. I disagree.

Negatives

  • No Comments - Commenting is going bye bye. If you’ve actually commented on a previous post, I’ll actually put that in the HTML version.
  • Different - Like anything that is new, it’s sort of different when you’re starting with it, so I hope you can all change your “thinking” patterns and an accept a different way of doing things.

I’d like to point out that this move isn’t immediate. It’s going to take me time to convert things over and come up with a design. I have 90 blog posts (this is 91) and that will take time.

Even though it’ll be all HTML, I’m going to put it in PHP format. The reason is that I want to break up header and footer into their own separate files. Like if I wanted to change a link in the footer, I don’t have to update a 91 blog posts, I can just update the footer.php.

That’s all the news for now. I’ll hopefully have a design created for what the new baby will look like.
